While this season didn’t start or end in anyway I could have ever imagined, I have learned so much from the adversity I’ve faced. Back in October of 2023, I fractured the part of my femur that sits behind my knee. The recovery took months of physical therapy and strength training. I was back training by the end of January and was supposed to be competing in my first competition in February… yet another set back, flu B. The flu also affected my next meet because I was not able to get in enough training to compete the all around. Fast forward to state meet, where I was the Indiana all- around state champ (38.075). I had a new personal best on vault (9.775) and floor (9.725). Two weeks before regionals, I sprained my ankle pretty bad not knowing if I was going to be able to compete at regionals. With only a week of training before regionals, I was feeling confident knowing how much I wanted this for myself. Regionals did not end in anyway I could have ever pictured it. Today was a very scary day, it all came crashing down during the last event. I went for my 2nd vault and as I was coming down for my landing, I heard a snap… My ankle is fractured and two breaks in my fibula. I did end up qualifying for eastern nationals in 3rd place. I also won 1st place on beam, 2nd on floor and 3rd on vault. And all of this despite not being 100% going into competition. Even though I won’t be able to attend easterns, I am so proud of myself for never giving up even when things got hard. This season has been full of highs and lows, but I could not be more thankful for my family, coaches, and amazing teammates. While I know these next few months are going to be long and hard, I have the most amazing people in my corner. To the people who have never given up on me even when things were hard, thank you. This is not the end of my story, I’ll be back and better than ever, gods plan.
