This was such a delightful read!!! 📚
I heard great things about this book but was skeptical. A grieving woman who can communicate with an octopus? 🧐 Yes— sounds weird but it is surprisingly wonderful. I saw somewhere that if you loved, “A Man Called Ove” you would love this book and I agree.
I really enjoy books with lots of different story lines that all connect at the end and this one delivered just that. If you’re looking for an easy and heartwarming read over the weekend — this is it!

After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago.
Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.
Ever the detective, Marcellus deduces what happened the night Tova’s son disappeared. And now Marcellus must use every trick his old invertebrate body can muster to unearth the truth for her before it’s too late.
Shelby Van Pelt’s debut novel is a gentle reminder that sometimes taking a hard look at the past can help uncover a future that once felt impossible.

Quick trip to Minnesota to visit my best friend. In September we boated on this lake. Yesterday— we walked on it!
Things were NUTS 🌰 this morning at the Arkansas Pecan Festival in Keo!
I am stuffed after being a judge in the Pecan pie contest. 🥧
Love this little town!
This is one of the most fascinating books I have ever read. Period.
It is gripping, glamorous and mezmerizing. I loved every single character and was so pleased with the ending — it left me wanting more but also perfectly content if that makes sense.
A big thanks to @cassandrawebbtv for the recommendation!

Aging and reclusive Hollywood movie icon Evelyn Hugo is finally ready to tell the truth about her glamorous and scandalous life. But when she chooses unknown magazine reporter Monique Grant for the job, no one is more astounded than Monique herself. Why her? Why now?
Monique is not exactly on top of the world. Her husband has left her, and her professional life is going nowhere. Regardless of why Evelyn has selected her to write her biography, Monique is determined to use this opportunity to jumpstart her career.
Summoned to Evelyn’s luxurious apartment, Monique listens in fascination as the actress tells her story. From making her way to Los Angeles in the 1950s to her decision to leave show business in the ‘80s, and, of course, the seven husbands along the way, Evelyn unspools a tale of ruthless ambition, unexpected friendship, and a great forbidden love. Monique begins to feel a very real connection to the legendary star, but as Evelyn’s story near its conclusion, it becomes clear that her life intersects with Monique’s own in tragic and irreversible ways.
This is a mesmerizing journey through the splendor of old Hollywood into the harsh realities of the present day as two women struggle with what it means—and what it costs—to face the truth.
A little behind on my reading — this is an oldie but a goodie! 📚
I read The Woman in Cabin 10 several years ago when it first came out, but I couldn’t remember how it ended — lucky me! 🤣 it was like reading a brand new book! I love when that happens!
The reason I picked this one up again is because it’s being made into a movie! I always love to read books that are being adapted to film. I’m one of those who believes the book is always better than the movie!
This one is intense and spine- tingling! I highly recommend!

In this tightly wound, enthralling story reminiscent of Agatha Christie’s works, Lo Blacklock, a journalist who writes for a travel magazine, has just been given the assignment of a lifetime: a week on a luxury cruise with only a handful of cabins. The sky is clear, the waters calm, and the veneered, select guests jovial as the exclusive cruise ship, the Aurora, begins her voyage in the picturesque North Sea. At first Lo’s stay is nothing but pleasant: The cabins are plush, the dinner parties are sparkling, and the guests are elegant. But as the week wears on, frigid winds whip the deck, gray skies fall, and Lo witnesses what she can describe only as a dark and terrifying nightmare: a woman being thrown overboard. The problem? All passengers remain accounted for - and so the ship sails on as if nothing has happened, despite Lo’s desperate attempts to convey that something (or someone) has gone terribly, terribly wrong.
